ABC's of me- The Honorable H's

H is for Hawaii
I LOVE Hawaii. Actually- I love the Polynesian Culture. I would move to Hawaii in a heartbeat. I would even move to Samoa. The other islands, I would love to go to but not live there- the language barrier is difficult.
I have been to Tahiti- I love love love it.
I love everything about these cultures. I love the food, I love the people. The Polynesian people are so loving of other people. They are always so happy.

Why,you ask, am I so fond of these people and the cultures?
Well I will tell you. My dad served his mission in Samoa. So that is where it all started. When I was growing up, my Dad taught me how to count to ten in Samoan- I can't remember any of it now, sadly. We would go to these festivals, and I would sit for hours and watch the dancers. My dad learned how to make a few Samoan foods, which I love when he makes them- taro with Coconut milk, Coco Samoa- it is like a very dark hot chocolate so yummy!
I think that my dad has helped to seal this affinity to the Polynesian culture and people in me by giving me a Samoan middle name. I love my middle name, it is so unique, and has really helped me in my life (weird that my name has helped me...)
My middle name Pele (pronounced Pay-Lay) In Samoan, it means "dearest one"

Pele is also the name of the Hawaiian Volcano Goddess. (and some Brazilian soccer player- which is the person that most people think I am named after)
My dad like to say that I am some times am the Samoan version of my name, and sometimes I am the Hawaiian version.
I love it though- it give me personality. I like to think in a way it is part of my heritage, even though I am not at all Polynesian
