Yes- I know all about the series. I have been told MANY times that I would love it. I have had everyone tell me the story line. I tell you now- I will NEVER be reading the Twilight Series, or watch the movie-(mostly because I think Robert Pattinson is creepy and ugly looking. I did not like him in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire)
BUT my number one reason for not wanting anything to do with Twilight is Bella.
She is WEAK! It is sad to me that this is what teenage girls (and non-teenage girls) are idolizing. Is she really the example that we want for young girls? A helpless whiny pathetic girl?
Now I know that all you Twilight lovers will be argue with me on this point- but consider this. You may say that Edward does not let Bella do anything that he is sheltering her and protecting her... WELL- of the littlest bit of the movie that I saw because my sisters we all watching it- there is one line that completely made me decide to never have anything to do with Twilight- What line is this you ask? Well- from what I could tell... (because I was REALLY trying not to watch it) Bella was in the hospital, Edward had just come in and told her that he was leaving. SO here is a perfect opportunity for Bella to prove that she is strong and that she is a real Heroin and able to support herself. But no- what does she say? She tells Edward that he can't leave, that she will die with out him..blah blah blah!
She is given a REAL opportunity to prove that she can be strong and what happens? She crumbles like a house of cards.
Give me a Good Heroin- Give me Hermione Granger any day! That is a girl who is smart, confident, and can handle her own in a fight. She does not hide in the corner waiting to be saved, she goes out there and saves herself. THAT is a true example of the type of girl that I want to be!

You should probably move past the "not reading Twilight" stage in your life. Embrace it. Love it... cradle it like a baby. And then read them. Become one with Edward. Learn to make him your own. Call me when you're done.
Bella can be annoying, but she is like the character that does something obviously idiotic like walking outside when there is a mass murderer on rampage. Some stories and movies just cannot progress without someone being dumb.
That said, Bella is no role model.
I will never understand why some people are so against reading these books. I see your point but you also don't have all the facts of all the books and don't know the whole story. I would agree that that scene sucks, in the movie. There is a part of all of these books that every girl, or guy for that matter, can relate to. I would agree that the girl who played Bella in the movie was a horrible choice and that her and Robert Pattison cannont act worth crap! But still the movie will never be what that book is. I hope one day you will break down and read the books. :D
