6 months of refunds

So I have worked in billing for a LONG time... sometimes it feels like forever. Anywho- I am constantly baffled at how dumb people are with their money. I am not saying I am anywhere close to perfect with how I spend my money- far from it. But I monitor my checking account and all accounts that I have with a very sharp eye. Which is why I am baffled when we have a customer who has been double billed, or charged for 6 months and they never do anything about it. I understand not wanting to deal with customer service and the hassle of it all, but I would SOOOO much rather not have a company charge me constantly incorrectly. HOW can someone go six months and not realize that they are being billed? Do they not look at their bank account ever? Do they have enough money that they don't need to look at their bank account frequently? I just don't get it.
This has not happened just one time. It has happened multiple times when I have worked in billing for two different companies. I just don't get it... can anyone explain it to me?

Casual Friday at the North Pole

I have a bit of a gripe to make. Why do the shopping malls have Santa's that "dress down"? You know, he wears a festive patterned shirt, and the red pants but when did Santa Claus stop wearing the red suit? Seriously, it is like the little kids get cheated out of the full Santa Claus when he does not wear the full red suit? Is Santa trying to make casual Friday everyday? Do anyone else have an issue with this besides me?
I know it probably gets hot in the suit, but let the children get the full experience. I think I might boycott Casual Santa's when I have my own kids. But maybe by then I will have no choice.... It is the kids who suffer here people.
Let them have the Santa that they deserve!

I am funny

At least according to the people at My 99.5. I won a contest. Each week they have a random photo, and you can enter a funny caption to win a prize. I did this last week, and totally forgot about it. Then this morning I got a call saying that I had won a $100 Gift card to Rodizio Grill. Awesome! It feels good sometimes to see that people other then myself think that I am a little funny too- because I think I am HILARIOUS!
Anyways here was the picture

This is the Caption that I wrote for it

Johnny started to think the pet rock he brought for show and tell just was not going to cut it

Hehehe... see funny. Anyone?
Well I am going to Rodizio... Bye.

The Power of One

I recently started reading this blog by this guy His post today was VERY powerful- please check it out.
I believe that the only thing that is truly our own is our agency, and that we choose how we are going to act and respond to the things that are given (or thrown at us sometimes) in life.
This post really made me think. I am studying to be a marriage and family therapist. I hear a lot of statistics in my classes about success rates of marriages, and many other things. It comes down to the choices that those people make. Each choice that we make each day can change our lives. It just take that one right choice. Sometimes we may have to make the choice several times, but it is always ours to make. We determine our course.

Out of the Darkness

Today marks an anniversary of sorts for me. It was eight years ago today, that my last relationship ended. It was also my longest relationship. At the time it was really devastating, but I had no idea how being this low would jolt me to change my life and allow experience I never would have imagined.
One thing that I learned from this experience it was incredible, loving people I have, and especially had at that time, in my life. I was not the awesome person that I am now back then. (for those of you who did not know me back then I am sure that is crazy to believe). I was painfully shy, and I hated that about myself. I hated that I did not stand up for myself, that I did not speak up and let myself be heard. This was particularly hard in this relationship because he was a tiny bit control, and I went along with. It was nothing abusive or anything, but not me. It was always little things that I did that he disapproved of, and he let me know. I did not know how to express my frustration, so I went along with it. I did not know this because I did not really know myself all that well. I knew what I wanted to be, but did not know how to become that.
So when the relationship started to crumble, I did not stand up and defend myself- but I had to wonderful people who did it for me. One was my sister Kelli, and the other was my friend Ashlee. Though neither may remember it, they both stood up for me without me needing to say anything to them. I will forever be grateful for them. I also experienced loving friends helping me through everything always there for comfort.
Because of the break up, I decided that I needed a change! A big change. I moved to Connecticut to be a nanny. This is the best thing that I ever did in my life. In Utah, and especially in Orem, I was always tied to my family. I was just another Measom. Not that that is a bad thing, but I knew that I needed to learn to stand on my own two feet. I did not go away for school, so I did not get this opportunity. And the one time that I had moved out, I was still to close to home that I did not really have to really only on myself.
So off to Connecticut I went. I knew no one. I was living with complete strangers that I also worked for, and they had hired me sight unseen too. I learned to fend for myself. I learned how to get everywhere- which is quite the endeavor considering that it is nothing like Utah. I eventually was able and comfortable enough to go into New York by myself. I loved New York- everything about it!
In CT, I met so many people, that lead to meeting other people. I am so grateful that I took this huge step in my life. I know that this was what was suppose to happen, and if it took having one dark day (or couple of weeks) then that is ok with me. I know that we are blessed when we trust in the Lords plan for us. As scary as it may be to step into the darkness, we will be blessed. Remember that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel, usually coming from a source that is show much greater, happier, and amazing then was is behind you.

Cupcake Lady

These are the most recent cupcakes that I made for my ward Break the Fast. Afterwards, I had some left, so a girl in my ward, Anne, took some home. When I use to be in charge of BTF, I usually made some sort of cupcake and another dish. Since I am not in charge anymore, I usually just make on dish. This month I got a great idea to make for the theme of Halloween. I think they turned out pretty snazzy.
Anyways, the other day I was talking with Anne who took home my cupcake. She only took one, but other times she has taken many home. It is all good because, I am not really a fan of cake. And most of the time I have a lot left that I still have some for my family too.
So I told her that I am really not a fan of cake when we were talking, and she was so shocked. I said I like making cake, but for the most part not really a fan. Anne said that I make the best cakes. (awww) She said that when she took home one of these cupcakes her sister asked "Is that one of the cupcake ladies cupcakes?" I was so happy to hear that I am called the cupcake lady, and that she loves my cupcakes.
Anne said here sister begged her for just one little bite.
It made me feel special.

PS- I started a new blog Check it yo!

Throw More Brandy!

Ok- so my little sister and I were talking the other day about how we have always wanted to throw a pie in someones face. This desire comes from this movie (and maybe a little bit from the movie Hook)
I have always wanted to be in an all out pie fight. So I decided that I have a "big" birthday coming up so what am I going to do for my Birthday party?
PIE FIGHT! Until then, I am just going to have to watch the Great Race till then (or Hook)
PS- if you have not seen this movie you should- it is a classic. Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon and Natalie Wood... GREAT!
